The Worksafe Paediatric and Early Years course is designed for people who are working, or intend to work in the child care sector. The programme has been designed to meet the requirements of OFSTED for Early Years First Aid Provision.

Paediatric and Early Years First Aid includes resuscitation skills for Adults, Infants and Children. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:

  • The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs.
  • The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient.
  • The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding.
  • Recognition of common childhood complaints and illnesses and appropriate care.
  • Developing an effective emergency plan for when an emergency occur.
  • The keeping of simple records following an accident in the workplace/care setting.

 

This is a 12 hour programme of learning, which can be delivered over a minimum of 2 days.

Our course meets the requirements of OFSTED under DfES guidance (April 2017) complying with the framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Successful candidates will be awarded a plastic qualification card on completion and receive a full colour A4 certificate valid for 3 years.

 

 

EMERGENCY FIRST AID FOR SCHOOLS

This specially designed programme has been adapted from the HSE Emergency First Aid at Work course to meet the needs of people who work within the school setting. The syllabus includes all content from the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course and includes subjects likely to be faced by first aiders working within a school. The core content covers the basic essentials required to provide emergency care to a patient including:

  • The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs.
  • The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient.
  • The recognition and treatment of a person in seizure.
  • The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • The ability to recognise and safely treat a patient who is choking.
  • The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding.
  • The keeping of simple records following an accident at work.

 

Additional subjects which are included in the EFAW schools course are

  • Asthma.
  • Allergic Reaction.
  • Resuscitation and choking for children.

 

Duration of course 7 hours.

All students receive a comprehensive training pack which includes a full colour first aid reference manual for the student to keep for future reference.
